Today we’re here in Helsinki completing an installation of an FBD 372. I want to talk through what is needed for an installation, and then we’ll take a quick look at the finished setup.
One of the key elements you’ll need is an installation kit. It includes the required syrup pumps, tubing and regulators. Most of our distributor and parts partners around the world already have these kits prepared, making the installation process straightforward.
Another important element is a certified FBD installer. Most of our distributor partners either have their own service teams or work with qualified service partners who can complete the installation and provide ongoing support.
There are three critical utilities and supplies needed for a frozen beverage program. The first is CO2. You can usually obtain CO2 bottles from your existing gas supplier, particularly if you already operate a beverage program, and your distributor can help you arrange this. The second is a water supply. The third—and most important—is the syrup. There are several suppliers across Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Most major bottling brands can supply suitable products, and there are also many private-label brands you can work with.
This installation is at an R-kioski location operated by Reitan Convenience inside Helsinki Central Station. One comment from the team during the installation was how little space the equipment required and how well it fit within the store.
High-traffic locations are especially well suited to a frozen beverage program. The weather is beautiful today in Helsinki, and many people are moving through the station—heading out, returning home or looking for a treat and a different beverage experience. Frozen beverages can be a great opportunity to meet that demand.
We’re going to walk through the main train station, look at some of the kiosks and other locations where frozen beverages could work, and see what frozen beverage options are currently available.
